This Social Economy Project is one of our latest developments. We are in partnership with Derry City and Strabane District Council and committed to European Waste Reduction Regulations. We recycle household items and white goods to reduce items going to landfill.
We operate a retail outlet based in the Derry City and Strabane District Council Amenity Site in Pennyburn Industrial Estate called “New 2 U”, where the general public can browse and purchase items that have been recycled.
The Project includes placement opportunities, a schools’ programme, providing training and skills development and an opportunity to sample the work environment.
The Active Inclusion Project, set up in April 2015, works with people aged 16 and over with learning disabilities and learning difficulties.
The Project is funded by the European Social Fund and the Department for Economy
The aim of the project is to support and train people with learning disabilities to help them find employment or further training opportunities.
The Active Inclusion Project is a 26 week programme and currently offers 3 Level 1 OCN qualifications in Healthy Living, Progression to Employment and Basic Construction Skills.
Participants are also offered the opportunity to sample work placements and gain work environment experience.
